(the) Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
the US government organization that investigates unfair employment practices. It was established by the ↑Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Commission uses laws that forbid prejudice by employers against a person’s race, sex, age, religion or country of origin. It can do this by taking employers to a court of law.
